Members of Milford Golf Club handed over a cheque for £250 to the crew of the Surrey Air Ambulance to help keep the helicopter airborne.

The seniors section – the self-styled “Milford Old Boys” – picked the life-saving charity to benefit from a club competition.

Two of them, Laurie George and Geoff Theobald, met the crew of the MD902 Explorer at their Dunsfold base to present their cheque.

They are pictured with Captain Steve Wood, Chief Pilot, and newly-appointed doctors Roger Alcock and Michael Urdang.

Laurie said: “I chose the Air Ambulance because it flies over my house almost every day. That’s what triggered it off really.

“The work they do is great and they must have saved endless lives with the speed in which the helicopter can get to particularly difficult areas.”

Golfers taken ill on the course are among the patients who have been rescued by the Surrey Air Ambulance since it first took flight in 2007.
