A group of Harley-Davidson riders got on their bikes to raise more than £700 to help keep the Surrey Air Ambulance flying.

The Hogsback Chapter raised the money for the life-saving charity through bike rides and functions throughout the riding season.

The helicopter is often called to motorbike accidents and last year flew almost 700 missions – 46 per cent of them road traffic collisions.

Surrey Air Ambulance was one of three charities chosen by the Hogsback Chapter to benefit from its fundraising activities.

Club member Roger Bonnici said: “Surrey Air Ambulance is a perfect charity to support.

“No-one wants to be in a road traffic accident but when it happens, bikers can’t do without the helicopter crew and the brilliant work they do.”

Godalming Mayor Jane Thomson handed over a cheque for £750 to Surrey Air Ambulance County Fundraiser Julie Jenkinson at the Harley-Davidson dealership in Peasmarsh.

The Hogsback Chapter is sponsored by the branch and also receives donations from The Bookham Grange Hotel where it holds its monthly meetings.
